Summer is around the corner so we need some new do's. I will try to post a wekkly hairdo for your daughters, but if there are any adults out there with tips feel free to post. I will try to show some quick hair styles for girls that make them look cute!!!!

Piggy's with a twist!

So here is a short update but a few new hairdos. First is one we call "Snow White". It is really simple, but adorable. First we parted a section from the front, about two inches from the face. Then I part it on the side and french braided both sides down and elasticed them together under the rest of the hair. We finished it with a bow and curled the ends.

The next we have done a few styles with but I will only show the one. We took her hair and parted a section down the middle. Then we did the pony under the elstic three times. One of our hairdoes we did them on an angle and ended with a side ponytail, but this time we did them straight down the middle, and then parted the back hair. We put the back into pigtails and then minnie mouse buns. She looked cute...

I know it's been awhile but I have been on bed rest. We are going to start posting tomorrow. We have come up with quite a few new ideas I think you will all love. Maybe it will be a hit this Christmas season!!!

Braided pigtails!!!

So here goes a new idea. I seen this on another girl and totally loved it. My niece spent the night in order to help me out a bit, so we tried it on her and my daughter this will give you an idea of doing it on long and short hair.

First part the front and put an elastic in the back to keep it from becoming tangled up. Then part it into thirds. Take the middle third and put and elastic.

Put elastics in the other two pieces, we will be braiding these, so you can do that now or wait like I did.

Next you will need to part the back hair down the middle. Then take the middle section of the front third and divide that too. I then take the divided section and combine it with the two sides to make pigtails.

Then take the braided sections and cross over to the opposite pigtail and redo the pigtail. Or you can put another elastic over the first if you have a child with thinner hair.

Take the two pigtails and braid them. You can finish the hair right after this step if you would like. My daughter would rather have her hair off her neck so we took the braids and folded them and put elastics in, then we curled the ends. You can be as creative as you want with this so have fun!!!

I realized that none of us have posted and I know we all have wonderful Ideas. If there is anyone out there who wants to join in and take a whack at it leave a cmooent if we haven't added you yet and I will give you a turn. I haven't been able to take pictures of any of my hair masterpieces lately, but I better get the whip cracking.

Fun with Elastics

Okay we decided to go a little overboard with elastics, but it turned out so dang cute. First of all you can choose how to part the hair. We parted it into 4 sections and then devided them into two and put elastics in. After we had them all in we connected the hair pieces and curled the hair. She loved it and so did I. Here are a couple of the photos.

So I noticed I haven't posted any hair ideas for quite some time, and I have tried some new, cute & fun ideas. I have just been to busy or the camera has had a low battery. I am calling out any of you with short hair...give us all some ideas or how to's for hair. I am always looking for something new and now that Katelyn and I decided to grow our hair out I am not always on top of the hair thing.

Cheer Piggy Tails!

It's been awhile since I posted, but we had a new hairdo to show you. Katelyn has cheer competition this weekend and has to wear pigtails. She has short hair so it is a little tricky but gives me a chance to be creative.

First start by parting the hair down the middle. Then we decided to make the part zigzag. decide how much of a zigzag look you want and follow along the middle part.

We put one side up so we could do one of the piggytails. I love the snake do so we incorporated it to help with the shorter hair. Start with a part close to the ear, pull it up and put the snake throuw the hole, tighten it.

Then we took a second part behind the ear and did the same thing.

Next I part a section that would be the heart of the pigtail. I then had Katelyn bend her head down and I did a snake through the hole, coming towards the pigtail.

Next take the hair and put it into a piggy tail, voila!!! It looks cute and styling.

Here's how we finished the product off. With lots and lots of curls. We hope those of you with short hair children don't think pigtails are impossible because you can be very creative and make it work. You could also finish it off with hair products from the 2 companies in the left column.

How to Curl Hair with a Flat Iron

I am always looking for helpful ideas on a new hairstyles. I don't have anyone who can video tape me so I decided to use some you tube help. I found a couple different how-to's and since we all have different length and styles I am going to post them all.

So we really liked the hairdo that Becky did for Gracie, so we mingled with it and this is what we got. A girl who hates her hair done everyday loves it down, but also likes it to look cute. We did the first few steps to the funky piggies. Take the hair and part a small section. Next you need to divide that into two halves, so one is in front of the other. With the hair loosened put an elastic in, grab the hair, and put the hair (Or Snake) in the hole. Tighten it, and grab the other section that is parted. Repeat those steps until you have two snakes through the hole. We just took flat iron and straightened the hair. We are putting our pictures into a slide because we chopped Katelyn's hair off and did the same hairdo. I know some of us have girls with short hair, so we incorporated for you also.

Funky Piggies!

Take a small amount of the front peice of hair put it in a loose ponytail. Separate the hair below the ponytail and tuck the hair through. (Gracie says like a snake going in it's hole.) Then tighten it. I did two of these on the top. If you want to do two just repeat the first step.
Then separate the hair into two pigtails (piggies as Gracie calls them) and leave them tucked in on the last pull through.
Take the ends of the hair and spread them around the elastic of the ponytail. Sometimes i leave them spiky using palmade. Today we used the flat iron to curl the ends.
I love this for when she goes to dance, this way her hair stays out of her face. It's also nice for summer when it's hot to keep her hair off her neck!
It's simple and cute!

Minnie Mouse Buns!

We named these buns the Minnie Mouse buns. We do them without braids and then we call them the Mickey Mouse buns. We are into the braid theme this week, so I am going to keep it going.

First dampen the hair and part it down the middle. Secure the side you are not using to help it stay parted. You can also zigzag the part for more style.

Comb the side up into a pigtail or side ponytail. Secure with an elastic or hair item.

We then parted the pigtail into four separate pieces. Each piece needs to be braided. I had Katelyn hold the ends of each braid so that I only had to secure the ends together. Make sure you leave enough to curl or spike it up funky.

Pull the secured end up to the pigtail and secure it with another hair elastic or item. It will look like a bun with braids.

Curl the ends, complete the same steps on the other side, and you are done, voila!!! It looks like Minnie Mouse ears. I didn't get a front on picture so a side and back will have to do with this one.

French Braid Updo!!

Becky and Gracie, Thanks for the inspiration for our hairdo. We loved Gracie's french braid so much that we decided to incorporate it into our hairdo. I think this would like cute on just about anybody.

First of all we dampened the hair and then parted a piece of hair from the crown of the head, and secured the bottom hair for later on. First part the hair into three pieces and then cross over adding extra pieces of hair until you have made the french braid. We chose to do the French braid on an angle.

Then I combed the bottom hair into a lower side ponytail.

At the last of the elastic I tucked the hair into a little bun.

Then of course we curled the ends and Voila!!! I think she looks adorable and she loves it too!

French braid

First I part the hair on the top of the head. Then i separate it from the rest.

With the rest of the hair pulled back I start a braid, I do it on an angle. This hairsyle works best with all bangs pulled back, putting them into the braid.

This is a nice way to keep the bangs out of their face. You can use a barret or bobby pins or elastic whatever you want. You can even braid it all the way or just half.

We then did curls with the flat iron. I love this because it's cute and the hair stays out of the face!

Half a Bun!

So we decided to do a bun, but Katelyn wanted to have her bottom hair curled. We like to change a look so here is a twist to an easy up do. Start with the crown of the head being damp. I like to use my handy water bottle. We all know what that looks like so I won't post a picture of her standing with wet hair. Then start on one of your sides and part half way down.

Continue all the way around. You can part it to the side, or change the amount of hair parted.

Take an elastic, I used the ouch less type, until you have one more loop left to go around the hair.

Tuck the hair up until you have just enough hair out to curl.

Katelyn likes her hair fancy, so we chose to do ringlet curls on the bottom. Like all other curls you can choose to do the curls with a curling iron or flat iron. We chose the curling iron today. Mainly because it is easier for me to curl the bun with a curling iron.

Finish it off by curling the bun and spoofing it up. I used a little hairspray to keep it in place.

This is easy and quick, but you can add any hair item to wear for a more formal atmosphere.

Barrels!!!

Start by dampening the crown of the head.

After combing the hair smooth, begin to part the hair where you would like to begin. We chose to do three barrels(as we call them) today. Part the front of the hair to make it centered.

Grab the hair and begin to twist it. I twist to my left, but some people twist to their right. I twist to my left because the direction you twist it is the hand that will hold the hair as you put the bobby pin in the hair. I am more coordinated with my right hand.

Hold the hair tightly and carefully put the clip in the back of the barrel. Try to stay as close to the scalp and catch the twisted part of the hair. If you don't pin down the hair that is twisted you will quickly see it. Then part the next piece and complete the same steps.

This is what your hair will look like from a top view. I used little clips to help hold the hair and give it a more stylish do. You can do so many things to this hair do and this is just one of the few I love.

I curled the back of the hair up to give it more body. I like to use my flat iron, but you are free to use a curling iron that fits.

This is the happy face of my daughter showing us her finished product. I loved this hairdo because it was one that is easy for girls without bangs, or girls trying to grow them out, or even girls with bangs. You can do this hairdo any way you like. We will show you a few more ways in the future, but have fun with it and give it your own style!!!

Mix it up!!!

I had my sister's girls here this morning so I decided to do a simple hair do, and once again no one was available to do the step by step photos, but this one is easy enough I didn't think it really mattered. I decided side ponytails would be fun and we decided to mix it up at the finish.

Krystal had a side ponytail with a braid. She wanted to keep it simple because it looks mucky outside, so this was definitely safe. All you need to do it wet the hair and comb the hair into a side ponytail. Secure it with an elastic or rubber band. Then braid the hair until you get to the bottom and secure with another elastic. Viola!!!

Ashlyn had a side pony tail with curls. Ashlyn is a very classy girl who wanted to have her hair jazzed up a little. After wetting the hair we combed the hair to the side to make a ponytail. We finished it off with curling the ends and putting a flower in it. Doesn't that look adorable?

Katelyn loves anything new and original so we had to change the style of her hair as well. We wet her hair and then combed her hair to one side to create a side ponytail. After securing it with an elastic we curled the ends. We then took another elastic and pulled the hair up to make a fancy side bun. Don't we all love that we can do so many different things with hair.

2 Twists!!!

When you begin the twist remember the parts or sectioning is what make the twist look like a twist. It is easy and you can have loads of fun changing the way you end it.

Start by wetting the hair. Try to dampen only the front and crown and sides and leave the ends dry. Make sure you comb it out before you begin. Combing it out smooth is VERY important in this style. I keep a water bottle close by the help with the fly aways, just in case I don't get it wet enough.

Part out a vertical chunk from the part to the ear. I like to start on an angle to give the hair definition. Divide your section in half. This is a simple trick that helps keep the hair even and easier to keep looking like a twist.

Pull the bottom half over the top half. You then take a section of hair from the underside of the hair and pull it up into the original bottom half. You usually end up with a section of hair between your thumb and forefinger and another section of hair between your forefinger and middle finger with the palm of your hand next parallel to the hair. Or use your hands whichever way is easiest. I didn't take pictures of the whole process, but this is the first, so next time I will show the complete process.

You always bring up hair from the bottom. Never the top. This is where the smooth, damp hair is necessary. It makes it easier to section. Twisting the new formed section, you repeat with the original top half. Go all the way to the end.Twist down a bit so the twist isn't lost in the end. Rubber band and secure the end. It doesn't have to be fancy because you may want to make it into a bun, or put your own little twist on the twist. Repeat on the opposite side. Then complete the ends how you like

The hard part is over, and you can do whatever you like with the ends. I curled them today to keep her hair out of her face for cheer class.

I absolutely love to hair, maybe I should have gone to school to do it(maybe I will). My daughter knows that unless there is no time she will have her hair done and it will look nice. I am always looking for fresh new ideas, as well as sticking to some basics. I would love help with this blog and know that anyone with a girl knows that hair is a really big deal.
